A great way to burn off some summer boredom is searching for great bargains at a second hand sale.
This weekend, at St. Alban Roe Parish across the street on Hwy 109, is a huge Basement Sale.
This sale features two buildings of merchandise. One holds books, furniture, household knickknacks and holiday decorations. The other holds linens, toys, jewelry, clothes and shoes.
All donations come from parishioners and generous community members. It is run purely by volunteers and all profits go towards mission trips to Guatamala.
The merchandise is very cheap. Books cost 50 cents to a dollar, purses are two dollars, etc. Full lists of prices are available at the sale.
Also, if you choose to come on Sunday instead of Saturday, you will find that everything is marked 50 percent off the already low prices.
“[The Basement Sale] is a great way to give back. Just buying something you want helps and it’s surprising what people donate.” sophomore volunteer Ashlyn Goldston said.
The Sale will take place Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the basement of the church and the gymnasium of the school.
