One thing that Lafayette students can look forward to every week are the smoothies sold in the lunch line every Monday. Provided by Smoothie King, these frozen beverages sell out fast, with less and less remaining in the coolers throughout the three lunch shifts.

But many have noticed that the shipments of smoothies have not been delivered within the past several weeks. What happened to them?

The answer is a little more intense than one would think.

On Dec. 29 of 2015, a man crashed his car into the Smoothie King located on Manchester Road, injuring three people, including two employees and a customer. No one was seriously harmed.

However, because of this, shipments from the store will be delayed until further notice.

Cafeteria manager Kim Moore believes that it shouldn’t be too long before smoothies will come to the school again

“I was told that we should be getting them again in about two weeks,” she said.

Until then, students will have to look for alternative sources for their smoothie fix until shipments resume. The nearest Smoothie King to Lafayette is located at  15825 Fountain Plaza Dr in Ellisville.
