Science teacher Chris Lofgren has been named as Lafayette’s Teacher of the Year.
Lofgren is now in the running for Rockwood Teacher of the Year, and will be recognized this Spring during the ROSE award ceremony.
lhsimage.com talks to Lofgren about his achievement.
Q: What does the title “Teacher of the Year” mean to you?
A: It is an exciting and proud moment to be recognized amongst so many great faculty members.
Q: How does it feel to win this award?
A: Kind of weird.
Q: What do you feel is the most effective way to reach out to your students?
A: I feel that all the students are unique, so finding a connection or an effective way to reach students so they can be successful varies for each student.
Q: What are some of your teaching styles that are unique to you which may have set you apart for the nomination?
A: I try to bring in unique stories that pertain to the content and make the content more memorable. Goofy jokes can go a long way also.
Q: Does winning this award make you want to change anything for next year?
A: The location of the Teacher of the Year parking spot. I park on the west side of the building.
