While many teenagers choose to sleep in on Saturday morning, sophomore Morgan Poisson heads off to shadow at Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital.
There, she helps the vets, Dr. Steward Robson and Dr. Megan Marshall care for all the animals that come through the doors.
Poisson started shadowing in the summer of 6th Grade, and continued in the summer of 7th. She began going every week starting in 8th Grade, and has been doing that ever since.
Although she usually goes for only four hours, emergencies can arise, and she has been at the veterinary hospital for 14 hours.
Poisson’s favorite part about shadowing for vets is that anything can happen, and no day is the same.
“I like working with the exotics and the horses that come in because it’s not something you get to see everyday.”
The hardest part for Poisson is putting down dogs. Overall, though, she enjoys her weekly trips to the vet.
Poisson said, “I enjoy [shadowing]. You get to see something new every day.”
