In an attempt to further introduce himself to the Rockwood community, Superintendent Mark Miles is hosting various question and answer style meetings open to the public. He is holding four meetings total, one in each quadrant of the district. On Aug. 9, he hosted his first meeting at the Administrative Annex in Eureka.

“The community sessions are designed to allow community members to get to know me a bit better and for me to gain a greater understanding of the expectations of our community,” Miles said.

Not only does Miles hope for the community to get to know him better, but he also hopes to make more personal connections and understand what community members want from him and want to see happen within the district.

“At the beginning of each session, I will share information about my professional career, family and perspectives,” Miles said. “Following my brief remarks, community members and I will visit informally. Overall, I am hopeful these community sessions will allow me to build relationships with others.”

The next three meetings will be held in the other areas of the district; Sept. 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rockwood Summit High school, Sept. 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Marquette High School and Oct. 1 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Lafayette High School.

Associate Principal Michael Franklin believes that the sessions are a great way for the community to express any concerns to Miles and get to know him as a leader.

“I think Dr. Miles’ community Q&A sessions are a great idea. School communities should be interested in the professional views of its leader, and these sessions are a great outlet to make that communication happen,” Franklin said.
