Final exemption forms due May 16
Get the final exemption forms now at the respective grade level offices. Deadline is May 16 at 4 p.m.
It’s the end of the 2016-17 school year and with final exams close at hand, underclassmen can choose to exempt one final in which they have a 90 percent or higher in the class. If eligible, then the students can pick up a form from their designated grade level office.
The forms need to be turned in by Tuesday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at the respective grade level offices. The lines will be long, so make sure to turn in the forms as early as possible. However, a student cannot request to exempt a different exam if they don’t qualify for the original requested exemption.
“If a student’s grade drops from an A to a B after they turn in their exemption forms, students cannot get a second chance. They must take their exam, and if they decide not to show up for it, then their final exam grade will be a zero,” Kelly Meghan, Class of 2020 secretary said.
The form requires a teacher signature as well. Seniors can exempt any class in which they have an A in.
For AP exams, a student must take the AP exam and have a B grade in the class in order to exempt. Nonetheless, a student may exempt from one non-AP class.
If someone doesn’t show up for school for their exempted final exam, then the person will be counted absent, affecting their attendance status.
Make sure the final exemption forms are turned in as early as possible; however, if it is turned in late, the form will not be accepted.
“We must have the forms by 4 p.m. on May 16, not a minute later. If there’s still a line outside of the office after 4 p.m. we will still accept forms of those still in line,” Meghan said.
