Dig Pink event to raise funds for breast cancer

All-Volleyball is sponsoring a match between rivals Lafayette and Marquette. All proceeds go to the Side Out foundation. The foundation teams up with volleyball teams to fund breast cancer research. Currently, the foundation has raised over $10 million with about 6,000 teams.

Various teams at Lafayette are donating baskets for a silent auction, the volleyball team is selling Dig Pink T-shirts and both teams will have a Dig Challenge during the actual game. A Dig Challenge is when people pledge money for every dig the player gets.

All-Volleyball’s goal for the match is to make it the biggest Dig Pink event ever; they want to raise 45,00 dollars.

Varsity volleyball coach, Zach Young comments on his feelings about the game,

“We were very honored to be selected to play in this match and to have a chance to help those with breast cancer.  The shocking statistics are that 1 in 8 women develop breast cancer during their lifetime.  That means in our program of 32 players that 4 girls will potentially get breast cancer.”

The match is at Lafayette on Saturday Oct. 15, and it will start at 6 p.m.
