Boys varsity golf look to surpass last year’s success

With only two seniors on the team, Anthony Gianino and Riley Katsev, the boys varsity golf team will need support from the underclassmen to push deeper into the post-season this year.

The team has a total of nine players on the team and among those is freshman Max Kreikemeier.

Kreikemeier has already won a title in his young high school career and he did it in an impressive fashion. He finished with 4-over-par 76, good enough for first place, and was one stroke ahead of Hunter Bornhop of St. Charles. Kreikemeier had five bogeys and one birdie and he finished strong on holes 16 through 18 when he recorded two pars and a birdie.

“Our season so far has been decent,” senior Anthony Gianino said. “Max came out really hot in our first tournament and we’ve consistently been in the top five team score wise. We’re all kinda rounding into form so hopefully we can get hot down the stretch and make a good post season run.”

The team will look to go on a run when they participate in a meet on April 25 at Ballwin in a nine-hole match against Parkway South.
