January 24, 2015
The Suburban West Conference rival Eureka Wildcats matched up with the Lafayette Lancers varsity boys basketball team. This competition took place on Jan. 23 and was fought on the Wildcats home floor.
Coming off of a crucial win against Kirkwood on Wednesday Jan. 21, they sought out to continue their streak of now eight wins.
In effort to get to the hoop for easy buckets, the Lancers focused on driving the lane which resulted in the Wildcats interior defense fouling excessively. Lafayette was sent to the stripe to shoot free throws a total of 26 times throughout the game. The Lancers converted 17 of those 26 foul shot attempts, which helped them maintain their lead.
Senior guard Brian Boyd lead the team in scoring, dropping 14 points while making eight free throws. Senior big man Zach Steinberg scored 13 points dominated the boards claiming rebounds left and right. Fellow senior Justin Zadoks also played a big role in the win, scoring 11 points.
The Lancer defense held down Eureka’s scorers, not letting any particular player get to hot from the field. Junior Luke Orso and senior Conner Walden paved the way for Eureka’s offensive effort, garnering nine points apiece.
After everything was set and done, the Lancers defeated the Wildcats by a final score of 57-47.
Their record now sits at 14-1 on the season, as this was a big win for the Lancers. This drops the Wildcats record to 4-10.
The next time the Lancers will see action will be on Monday Jan. 26 against Festus at Missouri Baptist.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
