Long-awaited greenhouse has groundbreaking
November 13, 2015
Final plans have been approved for the school greenhouse, and all spans of the Lafayette faculty and students attended the groundbreaking ceremony Nov. 10.
After Principal John Shaughnessy spent two years making this an opportunity for LHS, he finally got the chance to dig a shovel into the dirt where the greenhouse will be placed.
All students and faculty will be open to the greenhouse, which is expected to be fully constructed by Jan. 4, 2016. FACS and SSD students are, however, the main focus of this project. Both of these groups will have the opportunity for job training and applying their produce growing to the classroom curriculum.
The administration hopes to show the surrounding community that when the school is handed an amazing advantage like this, we can give benefit more than just our students.
Shaughnessy said he is ready for all of the Lafayette body to see how great our school can be and how learning doesn’t always have to take place in the classroom.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
