On April 7, community members braved the storm to vote. Results of the ballot included Proposition 4, a no tax bond issue, passing as well as the appointment of Herman Kriegshauser to the Board of Education (BOE).

Prop 4 passed with more than 70 percent of the vote, with a total of 10,142 voting in its favor and 3,576 voting against it. Prop 4 will give Rockwood access to $68.95 million, which they plan to use for general school maintenance and updating current school equipment. As well, the money will be used to replace the tracks at each of Rockwood’s High Schools and replace all their normal fields with new synthetic turf fields.

“I want to thank our school community for their support of Proposition 4.  This bond issue will allow us to move the Rockwood School District forward in a manner that is good for all children,” Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost said.

Krieghauser won a seat on the BOE, beating out his competitor Lawrence Lazar in a near 50/50 finish, with Kriegauser winning 53.30 percent of the vote and Lazar winning 46.70 percent. Krieghauser will only be receiving a one year term instead of the normal three, since two of the three years of the term he is replacing have already passed.

Krieghauser will be sworn-in by Rockwood Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost at 5 p.m. on April 9, prior to the regularly scheduled Board meeting at Crestview Middle School.
