Butler commit Nolan Berry dropped a game-high 27 points propelling the De Smet Spartans over Lafayette. The Lancer offense was solid, but the common theme for Lafayette showed up again last night, failing to close out the game in the 4th quarter. The Lancers failure to finish has been responsible for many losses this season, including last night.
Lafayette was down by two points, and heading into their final possession, looked to get junior Evan Scales a last second shot. The shot was barely off, and the Lancers took home their tenth loss of the season.
Apart from the tough loss, junior Adam Witzig dropped a season high ten points, Messer also put up a team high 18. Despite Witzig and Messer’s strong effort, poor free throw shooting really cost the Lancers the game.
Lafayette will play De Soto next Wednesday at Missouri Baptist University at 5:30, and will hope to improve their record to 7-10.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
