Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Martin scores 1,000th point in win over Marquette

During the Lady Lancer varsity basketball game on Jan. 14, much more was celebrated than a close win over long time rival Marquette.

Just before the half as junior guard Jordynn Martin drained a free throw, a group of LHS Super Fans rose up hoisting a large sign made by her father reading “Congratulations Jordynn, 1,000 points”, commemorating the three-year starter’s prolific scoring efforts .

“It’s really exciting for me. My dad and I have always kind of set that as a high school goal, so it’s really cool to reach it as a junior,” Martin said.

Martin had come into the game in need of just nine points to reach this accomplishment, but she struggled to put the ball in the hole until late in the first half where she was able to get to the rim and hit from the outside.

Shortly after, a break was called in the game as she shared the moment both her coaches and her teammates. She was also given the game ball.

The Lady Lancers would go on to win 54-49, improving their record to 8-6 as Martin led all scorers with 26 points. Junior Kayla Hall also chipped in an additional 13.

The team will resume action on Jan. 18 at home against Francis Howell.
