Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Kyle saves day as Lancers win opener against Parkway West

On the same day that the Cardinals opened the season with a loss, the Lafayette baseball team started with a 4-3 win over Parkway West on March 31. Senior Sean Kyle broke a 3-3 tie with a solo home run in the fifth inning after senior Sean McIntyre singled in a run to tie it up.

“It felt awesome to start the season like that. I gotta make sure I play like that for the rest of the season. We hit the ball well and both pitchers we faced were top notch, probably the best we’ll face,” Kyle said.

Kyle made up for a tough debut by senior Jake Busiek, who transferred to Lafayette from Florida this year and is headed to Missouri-Columbia on a baseball scholarship next season. Busiek lasted just two innings and gave up three runs before being replaced by senior Drue Bravo, who finished the game without allowing a run.

Due to recent inclement weather, the Lancers have played just one game so far this season. But things are about to pick up this week as the team will play an away-home series against Lindbergh on April 5-6 and double headers on April 8 and 9 as part of tournament in Sedalia.
