Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Kreienkamp steps up as Lancers extend streak with win over Eureka

Eureka became the latest victim of Lafayette’s recent winning streak on Feb. 11, as the Lancers defeated the Wildcats 56-41 for their seventh straight win.

While senior Aareon Smith and junior Joel Pennington were held to just 11 and nine points, respectively, junior Luke Kreienkamp picked up the slack with a career-high 20 points.

Junior Nick Messer also added 13 points.

The Lancers had a tough time breaking Eureka’s full-court press early on and were limited to six points in the first quarter. But they made the necessary adjustments and went on a 22-6 in the second quarter to go into halftime up 23-13.

“Coach [Scott Allen] told us to catch and face and not just catch and dribble. We used ball reversal to shift the press, and skipped it diagonally to get an easy two-on-one basket,” junior Ben Harman said.

From there, the team held a double-digit lead for the most of the way as the Wildcats missed several shots around the rim and were unable to get back into the game.

At 14-7, and now 5-1 in Conference play with the victory, the Lancers will travel Francis Howell Central Feb. 12 for a game at 4 p.m.
