Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Walters has big game as Lancers improve to 7-0

The boys soccer team has had plenty strong individual performances on the way to its 7-0 start to the season. On Sept. 16, it fell upon senior Zach Walters to do his part. He scored both goals in a 2-0 win over McCluer North, a skilled team that has dominated its Conference in recent years.

“We were going against a good team…so it was a big win for us,” Walters said.

His first score came with 20 minutes left in the first half, when a beautifully struck free kick found the top left corner from 30 yards out.

“I just saw the goalie setting up the wall and hoped to get off a shot before he was ready. Got a pretty lucky strike on that one. It was my first two-goal game, so that was fun,” he said.

Later in the game, a second goal made it 2-0 and gave him four on the season to tie junior Lucas Hake for the team lead. He now leads the team in points with 10, one more than Hake.

Walters also made sure to mention senior Ryan Mansfield as the one who drew the foul leading to the free kick and Paul McGhee for leading a defensive unit that’s posted five shutouts so far this season.

The team won’t play again until Sept. 20, when it kicks off a tournament in Hazelwood against Pattonville.
