Rockwood’s Proposition 5 will be placed on the April 6 ballot. It is a $55 million no tax increase bond issue. A 50-member citizens’ committee studied the schools and facilities and determined the needs of each.
The bond is titled “SMART” which stands for Safety measures and infrastructure, Maintenance of current facilities, Additions for classrooms, Renovations for instructional areas and Technology infrastructure.
Lafayette specifically will get a number of new items including new computers and the replacement of aged systems, SMART boards for every classroom, portable computers for all full-time teachers and a renovated outdoor stadium including stadium entrance, fencing and restrooms.
A four-sevenths majority (57.4 percent) is needed on April 6 for this to pass.
A meeting will take place on March 31 at 7 p.m. in the Rockwood Summit library to further explain the proposition and to answer any questions.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
