Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Girls tennis looks to take undefeated record into Districts, beyond

On Oct. 1, the varsity girls tennis team hosted Marquette in their final regular season match of the year, beating the Mustangs 7-0.

The team finished 14-0 overall and went 6-0 in league play, securing a first place finish in the Suburban West Conference. They also took home the Conference tournament title, accumulating a total of 17 points which was just one point shy of Ladue, Parkway South and Clayton’s scores put together.

“I expected great things from these girls since they work so hard, but they have excelled my expectations,” Head Coach Donna Stauffer said.

During the season the squad faced a number of tough matches, winning against last year’s State champion Ladue in the third set on the last court as doubles partners Maddie Roll and Jackie Legner won 6-3.

Freshmen Arianna Demos and Haleigh Chobanian also proved to be strong newcomers to this year’s singles play. Over the course of the regular season, Demos went 14-0 with Chobanian trailring her at 13-1.

The team’s doubles play has also paralleled their singles success thus far. Seniors Maddie Roll and Jackie Legner made up the team’s top seeded doubles pair and have served as a backbone to the squad’s routine winning. In the match Ladue, they had won 6-3 in the third set of the last court, confirming a Lancer victory.

Senior Chelsea Coleman and junior Megan Mange remain as the only remaining unbeaten duo, and have also added to the team’s consistency.

However, the team’s sole focus is now on the future as they look to take their undefeated record into the District and State tournament.

“I think it’s another motivator. We know that we can do it,” Demos said, “We can win all of it.”

The first round of Districts is set to begin on Oct. 5.
