Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Field hockey clinches Gateway Classic championship

Over Labor Day weekend, the varsity girls field hockey team was once again able to rise among the ranks of some of the Midwest’s’ most prominent squads to earn their third consecutive Gateway Classic pool championship.

During the course of the four day tournament, the team tied Ballard 2-2 and defeated defending-Texas state champion Trinity Valley, as well as Ursuline Academy to win the title. They also beat Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) 5-0 in a shortened match 5-0 because another team within their own pool could not make it.

“I think it shows that we’re really coming together as a team,” Head Coach Kate O’Connell said. “Different players stepped up at different times. We played a real team game.”

So far this season the team has gone 5-0, beating Parkway South 8-0 on Sept. 8 to clinch their first Conference win. Sophomore Kate Barber currently leads both the team and the Suburban West in points (18) as senior Shannon Knobloch trails her with a total of 12 points, earning her third in Conference scoring.

The team is next scheduled to play at Villa Duchesne on Sept. 10 at 4:15 p.m
