Boys baseball to play Parkway South
April 2, 2015
Boys baseball has jumped out to a quick start on the season collecting a win in their first match up of the season. Mehlville was their first opponent, as they defeated them without hesitation, by a final score of 20-7.
Junior Ethan Lichvar went a perfect 3-3 along with drawing a walk, driving in a total of three runs during the game. To combine with Lichvar, junior Matt Welby got three base hits in the game as well, also driving in a trio of runs. The Lancers lineup top to bottom was productive, as all angles of the lineup contributed to the win.
In their next game the next day, they faced up against Vianney. Things did not go as well as they were defeated by a final score of 8-2. The pitching wasn’t able to keep them in the game, while the club’s offense couldn’t quite get the job done. After that loss, the Lancers brought home a duo of wins against Hazelwood West and Lindbergh. Both games were won by a comfortable margin, as they improved their record to an outstanding 3-1 on the season.
Senior Garrett Steins said, “We had a really good game at Lindbergh. We had Royce Patty come in and close and he shut the door.”
In their last game, they played Timberland. Unfortunately, their offense was silenced as they only scored a single tally the whole game, losing 3-1.
Their next regular season game is scheduled against Parkway South next Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
Steins said, “We are just going to come in and treat it as another game and get the job done.”

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)

![In celebration of winning his second straight state title in the 215 weight class, junior Carter Brown backflips before leaving the mat. Brown won his bout against junior Kobe Rhymes of North Kansas City High School by fall in just 41 seconds. "Carter does what Carter does. We expect [success] out of him and his goals are bigger than the state championship," coach Sam Ritchie said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/IMG_2784-1200x800.jpg)
