Lancer baseball crushing opposition in playoffs

Postseason action has commenced for the Lafayette Lancers varsity baseball team. So far, they’ve been very impressive.

On Saturday, with the 3rd seed, Lafayette defeated the Rockwood Summit Falcons in a close match-up.  In the 6th inning, the Falcons stranded 3 with the bases loaded, unable to come through in the clutch. Moving forward into the 7th inning, they continued their trend and stranded 2 once again.

Activites Director Steve Berry said, “Tyler McMurray pitched the bulk of that game against Summit. It was a tight game, but they played extremely well.”

Fired up from their decisive victory against Rockwood Summit, they continued their positive play against the Parkway South Patriots. With even greater pitching from the Lancer’s arms, Lafayette shut down the Patriots 7-2. Peter Willaims, Nick Oliff, and Jack Fladda all had standout pitching performances, helping to generate the victory.

Hoping to continue their winning streak, tonight’s District championship game will occur against their Suburban West Conference rival Marquette Mustangs. The game will occur at Ballwin Athletic Association at 6 p.m.
