Boys football excels in post season games

Extending their season one more week, the Lancers won the first round of Districts last Friday Nov. 1st against Marquette, the boys are looking forward to another sweep against Mehlville this week.

With a final score of 35-3 against Marquette (2-8), the Lancers did a good job running a fast offense. Lafayette leads the conference, averaging 38.1 points per game. Junior Justin Perry rose to the occasion having an excellent game. Rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns as the offensive line cleared the way for him.

Senior Corey Manne has done a good job this season as well, leading the Lancers with the most touchdowns since running back Kevin Hampton has been injured.  Manne holds seven touchdowns averaging 42 points.

Being a strong first half team, on defense, seniors Jacob Bolstad has 57 tackles, seven sacks and three fumbles this season and Trey Perez with 48 tackles, are major contributors to the Lancers strong defensive line.

Although It’s been a long, trying season for the team as they had to deal with a squad full of inexperienced players and missing Head Coach Boyd Manne in the beginning of the season, they are now right where they were a year ago, and excelling in post-season games.

According to St. Louis High School Sports, Manne said, “We have to make plays. We have to keep getting better.”

The Lancers will kick off on their home field this Friday, Nov. 8th against Mehlville.
