Last night girls lacrosse encountered their most anticipated game of the season against the former leading team in St. Louis, John Burroughs.
On the Lafayette stadium field, the Lancers and Bombers battled head to head in a nail biting game, both teams striving to score a point to end the game.
Junior Samantha Kraman, a midfielder, could only describe the game in one word: intense.
The teams maintained a tie throughout the majority of the game, forcing competiton into overtime.
Fortunately, the Lancers were able to score another point on the Burroughs goalie, Abby Frerotte, and finalized the game with a score of 11-10.
This victory against Burroughs is the first in school history, giving the team the confidence boost they needed to finish out the rest of the season.
“It was a really big win for us, it gave us the confidence we needed to aim high and show that we can go to state and win,” senior Hannah Finley said.
The Lancers’ next game will be Wednesday, May 1 against the Parkway South Patriots.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
