Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Field hockey remains confident despite being handed first loss

On Sept. 27, the  girls field hockey team received its first loss of the season against Ursuline. The Lancers were defeated 2-3, ending an eight-game winning streak that lasted since the season opener.

Still, the team remains in second place in the Suburban West behind U. City, going a perfect 5-0 in league play with a 10-1 record overall.

“The loss isn’t a horrible thing,” Head Coach Kate O’Connell said, “We really learn stuff from it and keep improving. We just grow from them.”

Since then, the team was quickly able to bounce back with a swift 5-0 win over the Clayton (2-9) on Sept. 29.

As of Sept. 28, sophomore Kate Barber is currently second in the Conference in scoring with 34 total points with Alexa Masters of Barat Academy leading by just one point. However, Barber is first in total assists (18), leading by a difference of 11.

Senior Shannon Knobloch is also among the Suburban West leaders, as her 22 points is good for seventh overall. In addition, junior Mary Beth Shearn ranks among the Conference’s top goalies in winning percentage, goals against average and shutouts played in.

The team is next scheduled to play at home against U. City on Oct. 1 at 4:15 p.m.
