Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Field Hockey finds success in Louisville, secures Conference title

Last weekend, the varsity field hockey team took their talents beyond the Missouri state lines to compete in the Blue Grass field hockey tournament at the University of Louisville.

There, the team competed in three games, beating Kentucky state champion Collegiate 5-1 and Kentucky Country 4-0. They also tied Mercy KY 0-0.

However, the tournament format was round-robin and did not produce a champion.

“We played very well on the turf,” Head Coach Kate O’Connell said, “We played a really high speed game. Our team really stepped it up.”

On Oct. 11, the squad defeated Ladue 2-1 and improved to 15-1 overall, thus securing the Suburban West Conference regular season title. The Lancers are undefeated (8-0) in league play so far this season. They have also earned the number one seed in the Division I public school tournament.

Senior Shannon Knobloch and sophomore Kate Barber have also acted as offensive weapons for the Lady Lancers. Barber’s 52 points are good for third in the state and Knobloch follows in fourth with 48 total points.

The team’s next game is Oct. 13 against Kirkwood on Senior Night.
