In the 5.5 square mile area that was being focused on, there was an average population density of 71.5 deer per square mile, with some places having up to 94.5 deer per square mile. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, across the state there is an average of 10-40 deer per square mile. After Wildwoods culling operation, roughly 54 deer were removed per square mile from the 5.5 mile area.

Conference cross country meet provides hope for postseason

Both the boys and girls varsity cross country teams achieved impressive finishes at the Surban West Conference Championship meet on October 9 at Arnold Park.

The boys finished fifth with an overall score of 129 , whereas girls too third place with a score of 61.

Finishing strong as always among the varsity boys was senior Kurtis Harshman, who took second with a time of 16:16.52. Just behind Harshman in seventh place was sophomore Derek Lengenzoff in a time of 16:36.16.

Freshman Mary Augustin continued her successful season, placing seventh with a time of 20:05.71, followed closely by junior Maddie Henning who placed ninth at 20:07:83.

The Lancers will compete next on October 14 in the Patriot Classic at Parkway South High School.
