Name: Addy Surber
Grade: Senior
Sports Involvement: Surber is a golfer for the Lafayette girls golf team and she has placed at State all four years of her high school career. This season she placed 18th at the MSHSAA Class 4 State Tournament.
What were your greatest accomplishments this season?
“We had our Conference course at Crescent Farms and I don’t like that course so I was proud of myself because I shot even.”
How many times have you gone to a State tournament?
“I have gone to State all four years of high school.”
What are your future plans after high school?
“I am not playing college golf but I am not going to stop playing competitive golf. I will probably play some amateur events in the summer.”
What motivates you to play?
“I played since I was little and I have always enjoyed the game and wanted to get better and I always had a goal to achieve.”
What do you like about your sport?
“I love competing and working towards something. I also like that it is an independent sport so I am to myself and I can have my own time to work and have my own practices and not always be with a team.”
Outside of Lafayette, will you play golf for fun?
“Yes, I will always play with my dad. My dad and I have so much fun playing together and we grew up playing. He was my coach since I was six years old. One of my best friends is on the golf team so we will definitely have fun and play a bunch of courses together.”
What are some routines you have before you play in a tournament?
“I always like to go on the range. If I have something like a certain club I want to work on I will focus on that but I always do short game, driving range and putting. It just depends on how my game is feeling before and if there is something that needs work I will work and that and make sure it is perfect.
Do you have any sport related superstitions?
“On a golf ball you have a number and I always like the number two so I try to get the number two on the first pull and if I lose a ball I try to get another number two. I always have two practice swings and if I hit a good shot then I will stick with two practice swings but if I hit one practice swing and I hit a good shot then I will stick with one practice swing. I am really superstitious.”

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)

Brown won his bout against junior Kobe Rhymes of North Kansas City High School by fall in just 41 seconds. "Carter does what Carter does. We expect [success] out of him and his goals are bigger than the state championship," coach Sam Ritchie said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/IMG_2784-1200x800.jpg)
