Volleyball beats Rockwood rivals, freshman goalie records fourth clean sheet

Baseball

The Lancer lost against Marquette in both of their meetings last week. They lost 12-10, April 11, and on the next day, they lost 7-1. Coming back from a 2-0 scoreline, the Lancers beat St. Dominic, 3-2, with all three of their runs coming in the sixth inning, April 14. However, later that day they would be shut out against SLUH, 3-0. The Lancers will face Lindbergh twice this week on April 18 and 19. On April 21, the Lancers will face Francis Howell at home at 4:30 p.m. Then they will travel to play in a doubleheader against Jackson, April 22. 

Boys Golf

The Lancers placed 4th out of 20 schools in the Bulldog Battle in O’Fallon, April 10. Sophomore Anders Thomas shot on over par and got 3rd overall. Then on April 13, the Lancers beat Kirkwood 240-243. They will face Eureka in the Battle of 109, April 20 at Legends.

Boys Lacrosse

Snapping their three-game-long winning streak, the Lancers lost against De Smet 15-7, April 11. However, they bounced back with a 10-5 win over Parkway South. Their record stands at 6-2. At home, the Lancers will face Marquette at 7:45, April 21. 

Girls Lacrosse

Extending their losing streak to three, the Lady Lancers were defeated by John Boroughs 16-8 and by Wentzville 15-5 last week. Their record is now 4-4. At 5:30 p.m. the Lady Lancers will play Summit at home, April 20. Then on April 21 and 22, they will travel to Louisville Sacred Heart to participate in the BraveHeart Tournament. They will face Kentucky Country Day, Louisville duPont Manual and Louisville Assumption. If they qualify, they will go into their pool semifinals, April 23. 

Girls Soccer

Losing to their Rockwood rivals, the Lady Lancers lost 1-0 to Marquette, April 12. However, they bounced back with a 4-2 win over Kirkwood the next day. Junior Hadley Hendrickson scored her first career varsity goal in this win, coming from a corner-kick-assisted header. The Lancers went on to beat Nerinx Hall 1-0, April 17. Freshman goalie Gen Newell recorded her fourth clean sheet this season with this win. The Lady Lancers will play Visitation at 6:00 p.m. at home, April 19. 

Boys Tennis

The Lancers were swept 9-0 by Ladue, April 11. Then they participated in the Rockwood Invitational. The first part of the invitational was held at Lafayette. The Lancers were defeated in all of their matches. They lost 5-3 to Willard, 5-4 to Farmington and 5-1 to Liberty. The next game of the invitational, against Oakville, was played at Summit but was rained out halfway through. On April 17, the Lancers traveled to Francis Howell and won 7-2. The Lancers will play Westminster, April 19. Then, on April 20, they will play rivals Marquette at 4:15 p.m., at home. 

Boys Volleyball

In their game against Marquette, the Lancers went through all five sets and beat Marquette 3-2, April 11. Then they swept Eureka 3-0, April 13. However, they lost in the fifth set against Francis Howell Central, April 17. Their overall record is now 7-2. The Lancers will travel to Webster Groves, April 18 and will play Mehlville at home on April 19. They will travel to Parkway Central to play Lindbergh, April 21. 

Boys Water Polo

The Lancers lost a close game against Chaminade, 18-17. Junior Noah Schott scored 14 out of the 18 goals. The Lancers will take on Parkway Central, April 18. Then throughout the week they will be playing the Lindbergh Invite, and they will face CBC, New Trier, Bluff City and Kirkwood. They will also play MICDS in a conference game, April 20.

Girls Water Polo

The Lady Lancers were defeated by Marquette 14-8, April 11. Senior Mckenna Budnick scored six goals in their loss. Then they traveled to Marquette for the Founder’s Cup. In the tournament, they went 2-2. They won 9-4 and 7-3 against Parkway West, both times. However, they lost 11-4 to Lindbergh and 14-10 to Ladue. The Lady Lancers’ record is now 6-9. On April 18, they will face Kirkwood at home at 6:30 p.m. Then they will travel to Parkway North April 21 and play Parkway West April 22.
