Girls track and fields wins districts, sophomore breaks school record again

Neck and neck with each other, juniors Dillon Cronin and Jack Robeson race in the 3200-meter. Robeson placed 1st and Cronin placed 2nd in their district meet.

Baseball

In their last week of the regular season, the Lancers went 3-1. They beat Francis Howell Central 3-2 May 8, Summit 11-2 May 9, Summit 8-7 May 10 and lost to Francis Howell 3-2 May 12. The Lancers will take on Rockwood rivals, Marquette, May 17 for the first round of Districts. Marquette is the four-seed and Lafayette is the five-seed.

Boys Golf

At the MSHSAA Class 5 District 2 Tournament, the Lancers placed 5th. Played May 8, sophomores Anders Thomas and Jake Montgomery qualified for the state tournament, which will be held in Bolivar, May 15-16.

Boys Lacrosse

Placed in the six-seed, the Lancers will eight-seed Vianney, May 16, in the first round of the MSLA Class 2 State Championship, at home. The Lancers ended their season with a 13-4 record and if they win against Vianney, they will face three-seed SLUH.

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady Lancers beat Parkway South 17-7, May 8. Senior Natalie Tomljenovic scored seven goals in the blowout win. The Lancers then lost to rivals Marquette 14-12, May 10. The Lady Lancers ended their season 11-7 and were given the four-seed in the MSLA Girls Lacrosse State Tournament. They have a bye for the first two rounds and will play in the round of 16, May 20. Their opponent is still to be decided.

Girls Soccer

Extending their winning streak to nine, the Lady Lancers beat Parkway West 5-2, May 9. Junior Allie Kinner scored a hat trick in their win. However, their regular season ended on a bad note with a 1-0 loss against Webster Groves. The Lady Lancers will play their first round of Districts against Waynesville, May 15.

Boys Tennis

The Lancers were swept 5-0 by Eureka in the first round of districts.

Boys Track and Field

The Lancers placed third in the MSHSAA District Meet at Waynesville, May 13. Top four in each event qualified for Sectionals at Parkview, May 20. Senior Jeremy Lewis won in discus and junior Jack Robeson won in the 3200-meter. Sophomore Robbie Preckel broke his own school record for the third time this season with a distance of 51.48 meters, which led him to first place in javelin. The Lancers had 12 other events that qualified for Sectionals.

Girls Track and Field

The Lady Lancers won the MSHSAA District Meet at Waynesville, May 13. The 4×800-meter and 4×400-meter relays won at the meet. The 4×800-meter relay included seniors Elissa Barnard and Grace Tyson; junior Natalie Barnard and sophomore Avery Brown. The 4×400-meter relay included senior Shru Singh, sophomores Lauren Pauls and Brown and freshman Kylie Nichols. Brown won the 400-meter, Pauls won the 800-meter, Tyson won the 3200-meter and the 1600-meter and freshman Chloe Tabb won the triple jump. Top four in each event qualified for Sectionals at Parkview, May 20. The Lady Lancers had nine other events qualify for Sectionals.

Boys Volleyball

Sweeping both of their opponents, the Lancers were undefeated this week leading into postseason play. The Lancers beat Fort Zumalt South May 9 and Francis Howell May 10. They ended the regular season with a 22-6 record. The Lancers will play in the Class 4 District 3 championship game against Mehlville, May 16. The Lancers were given a bye, while Mehlville beat Kirkwood to reach the finals. In their last meeting, the Lancers swept Mehlville earlier this season. The game will be at Lafayette, at 4:30 p.m.
