Boys Basketball 

The team faced Francis Howell Dec. 9, losing 41-46. Their record now stands at 1-3. Although they have had a rough start to the season, Senior Logan Minton said he was encouraged by the close game with Francis Howell.“We played pretty bad but it was still a close game. Our defense kept us in it,” Minton said. Senior Matt Haefner is leading the team with 53 points, 25 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals throughout the four games. The next game will be Dec. 13 against Oakville High School at 7 p.m. at home.

Girls Basketball 

The Lancers have had a tough start to their season falling to 0-5. Three losses occurred during the Marquette Tournament Nov. 28-Dec. 2 against St. Joseph High School, 63-23, Francis Howell High School, 49-32 and Nerinx Hall High School, 54-26. The team then faced Parkway South High School at home on Dec. 6 and lost, 58-34. In their most recent game on Dec. 9 at Lafayette, the Francis Howell Vikings took the victory once again, 50-19. Sophomore Taylor Nania is currently leading the team with 29 points,15 rebounds, 3 assists and 8 steals. The Lancers won’t be back in the home gym until Jan. 3 against Kirkwood.

Hockey 

On Dec. 9, the hockey team faced Edwardsville and lost, 4-1. Senior Patrick Coats scored the goal with his first shot of the game. The current record is 1-7-1.  Their next game will be against CBC on Dec. 16 at the Maryville Hockey Center.

Girls Swimming and Diving 

At a meet on Dec. 8, the team defeated Parkway South, 87-83. Junior Ellie Kipper said she is proud of the results of the meet.“We beat Parkway South at our last meet, which was a huge accomplishment for our team considering that Parkway South won state last year. We had a lot of competition which motivated each swimmer to swim to their full effort and potential,” Kipper said. Along with Kipper, junior Emma Knoesel said the team’s season is going well. “We’ve been doing really well,” Knoesel said. “So far we have won every meet and the whole team has been doing really good, making a lot of progress already.” 

Boys Wrestling 

Continuing with their strong season, the team had a 63-12 win against Wentzville Holt, a 45-20 win against Francis Howell and a 52-18 win against Waynesville on Dec. 6. They ended the week of meets with a 78-0 win against Lindbergh on Dec. 7. At 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13, the Lancers will host the Theater Throwdown in the Theater against Northwest. Admission is $5 at the door or digitally through Hometown Ticketing.

Girls Wrestling 

The Lafayette Lancers came home with a 42-36 win against Wentzville Holt Dec. 6 and a 42-33 win against Lindbergh Dec. 7. At the Liberty Wentzville Tournament Dec. 10, senior Dashiya Houston placed 1st, sophomore Hannah Henderson and senior Jayla Jones took 2nd, freshman Layla Gardner and junior Toby Goertz placed 3rd and sophomores Ashlee Dakin and Aliyah Grammar and senior Daija Johnson placed 4th, junior Maddie Johnson placed 5th and senior McKenna Budnik took 6th. “I think that overall as a team this season has been going really well and we have created a strong sense of unity,” Houston said. Their next match is in the Theater Dec. 13 at the Theater Throwdown against Northwest.
