Baseball wins its Conference as boys golf, track places second and girls track takes third
Weekly Sports Update: May 3- May 9

Baseball: On May 5, the Lancers traveled down 109 and played Eureka beating them, 7-2. Senior Luc Fladda struck out 12 and only gave up one hit. Senior Peyton Cizek went 3-5 with two hits and a home run and had four RBI’s on the night. On May 6, the Lancers beat Kirkwood, 5-1. Senior Gavin Oswald pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts. Senior John Kramer also continued his great offensive season with another homerun. On May 7, the Lancers faced Eureka one more time and won 15-5. Eight of those 15 came in the sixth inning alone and the Lancers finished with 12 total hits on the night. The Lancers finished the week as the Yellow Pool Suburban Conference champions.
Boys Golf: The Lancers took second place in the Yellow Pool Suburban Conference Tournament on May 5. They had three top 10 finishers: senior Hayden Somach, fifth; junior Trip Sanfelippo, sixth; and freshman Reid Fortel. seventh .
Girls Lacrosse: On May 4, the Lady Lancers blew out Parkway Central in a 16-1 victory. Next they took down Parkway South on May 7, 16-7. Two players, senior Sophia Scheller and sophomore Natalie Tomljenovic, combined for 10 goals scoring five each.
Boys Lacrosse: On May 3, the Lancers lost to De Smet, 12-2. Then on May 4, the Lancers brought home their second win of the season beating Parkway South 12-9 on Senior Night on the LHS turf. With only one more game left in the regular season, their current record sits at 2-11.
Girls Soccer: On May 3, the Lady Lancers beat Fort Zumwalt West 2-1 in a game that went down to penalty kicks in OT. On May 4 the Lady Lancers shut out the Fox Warriors, 5-0. junior Rylee Howard scored four goals and freshman Emily Derucki scored one. On May 6, the Lady Lancers fell to Eureka, 2-1.
Boys Tennis: The Lancers traveled to Timberland beating the Wolves 9-0 on May 3. In the Individual District Tournament junior Britt Van Antwerp and sophomore Bryce Davis placed fourth in the doubles.
Girls Track and Field: On May 5, the Lady Lancers placed third in the Yellow Pool Suburban Conference Tournament. The Lady Lancers had four first place event winners: the 4×800 relay team of senior Katie Reed, senior Madison Slater, senior Kathryn Wenger and sophomore Elissa Barnard; 1600m runner sophomore Grace Tyson; 3200m runner Reed; and 200m competitor freshman Derucki.
Boys Track and Field: On May 6, the Lancers took second place in the Yellow Pool Suburban Conference Meet. Senior Vance Lear finished first in the javelin throw. The Lancers also finished first in the 4×200 with senior Pernell Gardner, juniors Bryce Compton, Alex Wildt and freshman David Marshall. The final first place finish was in the 3200m with sophomore Lukas Groenewald. The Lancers also finished second in four events. The 4×100 with Garner, Compton, Wildt and freshman Zakaylen Jones. In the 4×400 Compton, Marshall, junior Nikolas Malek and senior Eric Reed took second. Finally, the last two second place events were the 200m and the 800m run by Wildt and Malek respectively.
Boys Volleyball: On May 3, the Lancers beat Parkway South 3-0. On May 6, the Lancers fell to the Marquette in a close five set game losing 3-2. On May 7, the Lancers beat Norte Dame 3-0, with Lafayette holding them to nothing over 15 points that night.
Boys Water Polo: On May 3 in the Battle of 109, the Lancers came out on top beating the Eureka Wildcats, 12-9. Junior Dylan Vorbeck scored more than half of the day’s goals scoring a total of seven including one assist. On May 4, the Lancers beat MICDS in a close game that went to overtime, 19-18. Vorbeck again scored the majority for the Lancers finishing with 12 goals and two assists. Freshman Caden Bergman also scored a hat trick against MICDS. In the first round of the State tournament the Lancers beat Pattonville, 15-5 on May 6.
