Weekly sports update: Oct. 7-Oct. 13

Boys Cross Country: On Oct. 12, the team placed 6th out of eighteen teams at the All-Suburban Conference Championships at McNair Park with a final score of 155. Senior Aiden Murphy placed 4th, and sophomore Nikolas Malek placed 12th. Later this week, the team will compete at the 13th Annual Parkway South Classic on Oct. 17 at 5:45 p.m.
Boys Soccer: On Oct. 7, the soccer team beat Ladue 1-0. Junior Ben MacInnes scored the only goal in the game. Goalie CJ Jaggie had 17 saves. On Oct. 8, the soccer team lost to Webster Groves 3-2 on penalty kicks. The team plays next on Oct. 14 at home against Westminster.
Boys Swimming: On Oct. 8, the Lancers beat Francis Howell Central 127-58. They will play at Kirkwood on Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m.
Field Hockey: On Oct. 7, the Lancers beat Eureka 4-0. They then beat Villa Duchesne 8-0 on Oct. 8 to improve to 13-6-2 on the season. The field hockey team is currently ranked third in the state. They’ll play two games this week. The first is on Oct. 14 at Cor Jesu, and their final game of the season will be on Oct. 16 at home against MICDS.
Football: On Oct. 11, the Lancers faced Parkway North in Lafayette’s Homecoming game. The Lancers won 41-0. Junior Mitchell Hoffman scored first in the game, intercepting the ball and then running it 27 yards. Senior Caden Phipps ran in the rest of the touchdowns for the Lancers, gathering 173 yards. Their overall record is 6-1. In their next game, they’ll face off at Lindbergh on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
Girls Cross Country: On Oct. 12, the team placed 3rd out of eighteen teams at the All-Suburban Conference Championships at McNair Park with a final score of 112. Freshman Grace Tyson finished in 1st place out of all the runners. Later this week, the team will compete at the 13th Annual Parkway South Classic on Oct. 17 at 5:45 p.m.
Girls Golf: The Lady Lancers competed in the District Tournament at Crescent Farms Golf Course. Junior Brooke Biermann shot a 69 overall and finished as District champion. Sophomore Jenna Loveless shot a 91, which qualified her for the Sectional Tournament next week. The Lady Lancers finished 3rd out of thirteen teams present. The Lady Lancers play next in the Class Two Sectional Tournament on Oct. 14 at 8 a.m.
Girls Tennis: On Oct. 8, the team beat Ladue 9-0 in the first round of the Team District Tournament. On Oct.9, the team lost 5-0 to St. Joe in the Team District Championship final. On Oct. 12, sophomore Katie Ferguson got first place in the Individual District Tournament when playing against St. Joseph’s top-ranked player. She’ll move on to Sectionals.
Girls Volleyball: On Oct. 8, the team lost to Eureka in two games. On Oct. 9, the team beat Kirkwood in two games. They play next on Oct. 14 at home against Parkway West at 5:30 p.m.
Girls Softball: On Oct. 7, the team beat Francis Howell North in a blowout win, 13-2. Junior Hannah Long had five runs batted in (RBI). On Oct. 8, the team beat district rival Marquette 5-4 in a comeback win in the last inning. Senior Callie Harrison hit a two-run double to tie the game and junior Hannah Long had the game-winning hit. On Oct 9, the team beat Hillsboro 3-2 in another comeback win, with a walk-off double by junior Hannah Long. Their final game of the season will be at Northwest Cedar High School on Oct. 14.
