This past weekend on April 19, Lafayette hosted the annual Drive 4 Ur School fundraiser under the supervision of Matt Landwehr, business teacher, and representatives from Ford Motor Company.
Every year, Lafayette partners with Ford Motor Company to raise money for Lafayette’s Renaissance program. Anyone who wished to participate must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and simply showed up, filled out a form, and chose one of the many cars available for a free test drive. For every test drive of one of Ford’s featured cars, Ford donates $20 to Lafayette’s Renaissance program.
This year, some of the several featured cars included the 2014 Ford Taurus, Fusion, Escape, and two different Mustangs (one convertible).
Lafayette was able to rally a substantial amount of support due to spillover from the track meet that was happening at Lafayette at the same time.
“This is our third year hosting this event.” Landwehr said. “Every year, we’ve seen an increase in turnout, so its growing steadily.”
The event also featured a raffle where winners could receive free Prom tickets or free Penn Station subs for a year. The winners are yet to be announced.
Landwehr hoped to reach 300 forms filled out, allowing the Renaissance program to receive the optimum amount of money from Ford of $6,000. Results are still pending, but Landwehr is optimistic.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
