On Thursday, April 24, the Lafayette High School Department of Fine Arts presented the Vox Solus & Jazz Ensemble concert. This one-hour concert consisted of three songs performed by Vox, three pieces performed by Jazz Ensemble and one song performed by both groups. The concert was directed by choir teacher Christy Shaffer and music teacher Brad Balog.

To kick off the concert, Vox performs their first song of the night, Take On Me by a-ha. Soloists for this song include juniors Ella Nolan and Rylee Stoffel.
Up next, Vox performs Hazy Shade of Winter arranged by senior Blake Jaycox.
For their third song, Vox performs Story of My Life by One Direction with Stoffel and sophomore Lilly Colombo singing solo parts.
After the Vox performances, Jazz Ensemble took the stage, performing Sugar by Stanley Turrentine. Soloists include seniors Declan Phipps with the guitar and Liam Watson with the piano, junior Andres Moeller on trombone and sophomore Charlie Henson on the drums.
Next up, Jazz Ensemble performs One Mint Julep by Rudolph Toombs. Soloists include juniors Sam Dimmic playing the alto saxophone, Giancarlo Fernandez, Avery Holder, Moeller on trombone, and Grayson Smith playing the trumpet, as well as Henson playing the drums and sophomore Alex Kadyanov playing tenor saxophone. Freshman Amanda Vache had a piano solo.
For their third song of the night, Jazz Ensemble performs Swingin’ On By by Nickolas Maluf. Soloists included Phipps on the guitar, Dimmic with the alto saxophone, Holder with the trumpet, Henson with the drums and sophomore Dean Klawiter with the vibes.
For the very last song of the night, both Jazz Ensemble and Vox took the stage, performing Blue Skies by Nickolas Maluf. Soloists include special guest senior Gracie Hagen with the flute and Kadyanov with the tenor saxophone.
