For people who enjoy trying new things while supporting local restaurants, the Taste of West County is an event that includes both.
The annual Taste of West County is on Feb. 25 from 5:30 to 7:30p.m. The event will take place in the Commons.
Todd Decker, teacher sponsor of Junior Advisory said, “The Taste of West County is put on by a committee of junior parents.”
Decker’s main job is to recruit volunteers from Junior Advisory, and the rest of the event is organized by parents and faculty.
Assisstant Principal Kirti Mehrotra said there are 30 restaurants that participate in the Taste of West County event.
Decker said that in the past, Junior Advisory has usually been the only club to participate in the event.
This year, however, Mehrotra said, “We offer students from key club, STUCO, NHS, Be the change, Community service volunteer hours if they want to come and help us.”
Mehrotra said anywhere from 800 to 900 people attend the event, including adults, children and students.
Mehrotra confirmed that all proceeds go towards the junior class’s senior celebration.
In order to attend the Taste of West County, a ticket form must be filled out. Students will also be able to buy tickets on the stage in the Commons.
Tickets are $12 each or $5 each for children five years old and younger. A pack of four tickets can be purchased for $45.
There will also be a Silent Auction and Baskets will be raffled off.
With 30 restaurants participating and around 800 people attending, the Taste of West County is sure to be a popular and lively event.
