Each month, students and staff members are selected as Students or Staff Members of the Month.
The March Student of the Month recipients are freshman Kirk Bradley, sophomore Deserai Robinson, junior Jillian Kirwan and senior Kameron Klimes.
The winners receive a gift certificate to Plato’s Closet.
Guidance Counselor Deborah Parker said, “Also, their names and photos are on the bullet board and sent to all staff via e-mail and they have a lunch with Mr. [John] Shaughnessy.”
The Students of the Month are chosen by staff nominations and there is a Student of the Month Committee that votes on one winner per grade level.
“There is not a specific criteria, usually the student is nominated because they have done something special, like helped other students, helped a teacher, raised their grades, turned in a valuable lost object, etc,” Parker said.
The same policy applies to staff members.
Renaissance Sponsor Jodie Fowler said, “Students nominate teachers and the Renaissance Student Steering Committee chooses the most sincere and heartfelt nomination and that is how the Staff Member of the month is chosen.”
This month, Business Department Chair Betsy Rivas from was chosen and will receive a gift certificate to a restaurant and a certificate.
