Sophomore Gina Diaz met Cardinals baseball player, Yadier Molina on January 28, 2018 Along with a club of fellow Puerto-Ricans, Diaz didn’t know what to expect when she walked into Busch Stadium, and that is when she saw Molina; leaving her heart racing and speechless. 

“There was this Puerto Rico club and the president of the club was a family friend. So, he invited my whole family because he knew I was a fan,” said Diaz

Ever since she was little, Diaz had a dream to meet Molina. She wanted to know how he got to such a high point in his life regardless of his lows, she had so many questions that she wanted to ask him.

While meeting him, Diaz was able to hear his life story and how he became successful. Diaz, having struggles of her own, was inspired by Molina’s story.

“Meeting him changed me because he told me about all the challenges he had to go through. I thought I had it hard, but when I listened to his story I realized I have had it so much easier than he has,” Diaz said.

Diaz claims that she is one of Molina’s biggest fans and that she would love to meet and talk to him again.

“If I got to meet him again, I would tell him thank you for helping me to be a better person and really be grateful for what I have,” Diaz said.
