Academic Pep T-Shirts: What’s up with that?
The Academic Pep Assembly (APA) is next Tuesday, and new APA T-shirts were passed out during lunch. Last year, the shirts commemorated the music awards, and the previous year the design showcased the “LouTube Rewind.”
So how are the shirts designed from year to year?
In the past, art teacher Lauren Sakowski has created the designs.
“Depending on whether or not we’re doing something that’s based on real life, I will look at it for inspiration,” Sakowski said. “If we’re doing something more generic, I use my Louie the Lancer [design] that I’ve developed for Renaissance.”
This year, it was decided to have the students design the T-shirts. A contest was held, but because so few students submitted designs, Renaissance Steering Committee took over the responsibility.
Senior Christie Leslie, a member of the APA Committee for Renaissance, designed the shirt this year.
“In the past, we’ve done a theme consistent with the APA theme, but we wanted to do a more generic design so you could wear it all year round,’’ Leslie said.
Regarding the design, Leslie said they could only use three colors, so she decided to keep the T-shirts white because it was cheaper.
Next year, the T-shirt contest will be held again, allowing students to submit their artwork.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
