MS: Room 128A
March 10, 2016
Not even seniors know what every room in the school is used for. One room few may know about is room 128A in the sophomore hallway.
Room 128A is a small room located on the left side of the Sophomore hallway. The room is used for the Youth in Need program, a school-based individual group and family counseling program offered to students at Lafayette.
“The program is offered to students who are in need of help and who can not afford or find outside counseling,” Stephanie Dolan, Guidance Counselor Secretary, said.
Though Lafayette has standard guidance counselors who help students with schedules or grades, this counseling program provides school-based mental health services for students who are struggling with other things that are more serous outside of Lafayette.
“The reason that we’re school-based is to try to meet students where they are,” Sam Bethel of the Youth in Need program said.
When you pass by the room, it is laid out the way of not being able to see the student on the inside due to confidentiality and privacy reasons.
The Youth in Need program is funded and supported through the St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund.
The room is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for students who are in need of extra help or support.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
