In the 1974 October issue of the Marquis de Lafayette, the previous name for the Image, science teacher Roger Fischer was welcomed into the school by sports reporter Karen Graves. Under the “Faculty Additions Made at Lafayette” section among other teachers,  Fischer was kindly welcomed as the new science teacher, and remains in that position to this day.

The Marquis de Lafayette states that Fischer is golf loving and an all around outdoor sport enjoying kind of guy. The paper even talks about how he was single, stating to,  “stay calm all you single, female faculty members!”

Being from Lockwood, MO, Lafayette was a new environment for Fischer. In 1974, he said, “Up here everything is unusual, and everyone teases me about my accent. I’ve been told it’s ‘hillbilly’.”

Fischer has been teaching in the science department at Lafayette for over 35 years. He is also a coach of the Lafayette football team.
