Minumental Art Competition kicks off

The Minumental Art Competition is a contest where students create pieces of art no larger than 1″ x 1″ x 1″.

The competition has a different theme each year, that the artists have to create their pieces to match. This year’s is Little Shop of Horrors, to go along with the LHS musical.

This is not only a Lafayette competition. Many high school and college campuses across the country hold their own competitions very similar to this.

All entries for this year are due to Art teacher Lauren Sakowski in Room 209 by Jan 14.

Requirements are that the piece be no larger than the 1″x 1″x1″, either 2D or 3D. Other than that, the artists can be as creative as they want.

Junior Dani LaMar entered a multicolored bird sculpture last year.

“I really enjoyed it,” said LaMar. “I think it’s a really unique competition and everyone who likes art should participate.”

Lamar said she plans to enter this year but hasn’t decided on a design yet.

“Whatever I decide, it’ll be awesome,” she said with a smile.
