Up and coming band plays for publicity tour

All the way from Nashville, TN the band We The Living has been attracting much attention at Lafayette.

On Friday March 5, lead singer John Paul grabbed his guitar and gave a taste of what the band has to offer towards the end of each lunch shift. As time went on hype of the band grew. Associate Principal Renee Trotier said she thought third lunch had the best reaction to the band.

Future Business Leaders of America (FLBA) contacted the band to see if they’d be interested in playing a show at Lafayette which they agreed to do Friday March 5.

On Saturday, March 6 the band is playing a show at Cicero’s in the Delmar Loop at 7 p.m.

The band consists of four members, John Paul the lead singer, Brian who plays guitar, Matt on bass and Ben plays the drums. They have been together for three years and already have two albums out, Heights of the Heavens and Depths of the Earth.

They also have one free album that can be downloaded from their website wetheliving.com, called Boom Forest.

John Paul said they are currently working to find new ways to get their music heard because the radio isn’t really working.
“We’re writing a new album right now and are trying to play key venues around where we live to get the word out about us. It’s a way to reach people where they are,” he said.

John Paul describes their music as “Coldplay meets Kings of Leon”.

The band hopes to return to St. Louis because they are friends with other bands here and want to play bigger shows with them.

“After I played I signed a lot of arms. People here really seem to enjoy the music and I hope that means they’ll come out to the shows. I’ve been asked for a lot of autographs,” John Paul said.

Other ways to connect with We The Living include their MySpace, Facebook and Twitter pages.

Tickets for the show at Lafayette on March 5 can be purchased at the door for seven dollars.
