The Parent Pay Online option for purchasing a parking permit for the 2022-2023 school year will become available on Aug. 1 for $80 each. The application also includes the option “Zero Pay” for paying with cash or check in person. Parking permits will continue to be sold throughout the year until the lot is full.

Students will be able to choose their parking spot at Lafayette after filling out the application.

Seniors can choose their spot on Tuesday Aug.16, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. while juniors and sophomores can choose from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

On Friday, Aug. 19, all students can choose parking spaces from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and spots will also be available for purchase on Monday, Aug. 22, during all lunch shifts in the Commons, and Tuesday, Aug. 23, during all lunch shifts in Room 261.

To choose a parking spot, a student is required to have paid before or at the same time as they are choosing a spot and a driver’s license must be presented for verification.

Junior Natalie Vache plans on choosing a parking spot from the east lot because of its convenience.

“If you’re an athlete, I’d say closer to the field [is best] because after practice you don’t have to walk,” Vache said.

While junior Wes Jennings agreed, he also said that students who aren’t athlete would likely prefer the other side of the lot.

“Just getting out of the parking lot, [ the best spot] is anywhere on the other parking lot, not the field side,” Jennings said.

On the other hand, junior Sawyer Novack, who will be president of Lafayette’s Theater Company and on the varsity Undefined team next year, plans to choose the staff lot.

“The best parking lot by far is in the side lot by the playground for after theatre,” he said. “Any other time, that area is terrible to park in because of the parent pick up line.”

Students with parking passes for the 2021-2022 school year can throw them away.
