Homecoming Week will kickoff on Sept. 27, 2021. Student council (STUCO) members have planned many of the traditional Homecoming events. In the weeks before school was back in session, STUCO members were already dedicating time to get Homecoming ideas up and running. 

Senior Abby Perzan is the STUCO Communications Director and took part in helping plan out all of the activities and themes. 

“For Homecoming we met a couple weeks before the school year started and took about two hours to talk about a Homecoming theme and dress up days, as well as other activities we are doing this year. We wrote out all of our ideas on the white board in the projection room and discussed a few themes. Then we got the idea for Olympics and stuck with it,” Perzan said. 

Spirit Week will begin on Sept. 27 and each day will feature a different dress-up theme along with a different activities during lunch and AcLab. Monday is Pajama Day, where the Tuesday Night Rock Band will perform at lunch and each Class will begin decorating their hallways during AcLab. Tuesday is Olympic Events Day, and the lunch event is the Pumpkin toss. Wednesday is Neon Day with inflatable fun offered both at lunch and at AcLab. Thursday is Jersey Day and will feature Class competitions at Lunch. Lastly, Friday is Spirit Day with Jazz Band and Vox Solus performing during lunch.

The Powder Puff Game will take place at the Stadium Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. In an effort to hinder the spread of COVID-19, the Junior Class will not be participating this year. Instead, teams made up of Senior Women will be playing against each other. Spectators will be allowed to attend. 

The schedule for Friday, Oct. 1 will be an A Day that follows the Pep Assembly scheduling. At 2:22 p.m on Oct. 1, students will be escorted to the Stadium for the Homecoming Pep Assembly. In previous years, the assembly had taken place in the Main Gym, but an outdoor assembly was chosen in an effort to keep administrators and students healthy. Junior varisty and varsity cheerleading, Escadrille, Male Escadrille and more will perform on the field while spectators watch from the bleachers. 

Before the football game on Oct. 1, the Homecoming Parade will take place at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at Green Pines Elementary and makes its way up to LHS.

Shortly after the parade, the Homecoming Game will kick off on home turf at 7:30 p.m. against Marquette. The theme for the student section of this year’s game will be White Out.

Voting for this year’s Homecoming Court has already begun. On Sept. 22, the nominations began for all grade levels. The second round of voting will commence on Sept. 23, and the third and final round of voting will be on Oct. 1. Representatives of each court will be announced at the Stadium during the Pep Assembly.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Homecoming Dance will start at 7:30 p.m. and will last until 10 p.m. Tickets aren’t available at the door but can be purchased online in the Parent Portal and will be available in person only on Wednesday, Sept. 29 during all of the lunch periods. Tickets are $15 for a single and $30 for a double

In years past, the dance has been held in the Commons, but this year it will be “under the stars” at the Stadium. Similarly to years past, students will be allowed to bring an outside date. 

Although a lot of the traditional activities have been modified due to the pandemic, Perzan is still looking forward to them. 

“Homecoming is outside which is honestly really cool. I’m excited to dance under the stars and be able to spread out and dance together,” Perzan said. 

On Monday, Oct. 4 students will get to enjoy a day to rest from the eventful week with a day off of school.
