Weekly sports update Oct. 14-Oct. 20

Boys Cross Country: The Lancers ran at the 13th Annual Parkway South Patriot Classic at Castlewood State Park on Oct. 17. The team placed 2nd overall with Nikolas Malek placing 2nd, Aidan Murphy 3rd, Eric Reed 9th and Vikas Devulapalli 15th. They will compete in Districts on Saturday Oct. 26 at Brookdale Farms. 

Boys Soccer: On Oct. 14, the Lancers beat Westminster 5-2, then played Duchesne the following night and won 5-0. Oct. 17, the Lancers beat Hazelwood West 3-0, becoming the Round Robin Tournament champions. This week they will play at Holt High School on Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. They’ll play again on Oct. 22 at Eureka High School at 6 p.m. To finish out the week, they will play at Francis Howell Central High School on Oct. 25 at 6:00 p.m.

Boys Swimming: The Lancers swam against Kirkwood on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and lost 128-58. This week they will participate in their final match against Lindbergh on Oct. 22 at 4:30 p.m in the Lafayette pool. 

Field Hockey: Playing Cor Jesu on Monday Oct.14, the Lady Lancers lost 5-0. Then they played their last regular season game against MICDS on Oct. 16 and lost 5-1. The Lady Lancers ended the season with a record of 13-8-2. Currently, in the St. Louis area, junior Mia Simpson is ranked 5th with 44 points and freshman Lene Rossouw is ranked 6th with 42 points.

Football: The Lancers played the Lindbergh Flyers beating them 17-0 making their recond 7-1 for the season thus far. In the game, junior Blake Micek had two passing touchdowns to senior Jack Roe. Junior Josh Reynolds also kicked a 42-yard field goal. This week, the Lancers will play in their final game against the Marquette Mustangs on Oct. 25.

Girls Cross Country: The Lancers competed in the 13th Annual Parkway South Patriot Classic on Oct. 17, and placed 2nd overall. Freshman Grace Tyson placed 1st overall, and was also named one of the STL Today’s Athletes of the Week. Other Lancers who placed in the top 20 include Kelsey Johnson in 6th, Hope Ware in 7th, Elissa Barnard in 8th, and Katie Reed in 19th. They will compete in Districts on Saturday Oct. 26 at Brookdale Farms. 

Girls Golf: The Lady Lancers competed at Sectionals, and junior Brooke Biermann shot a 69 overall, winning the Sectional and advancing her to the State Tournament next week. On Oct. 21, the entire team will compete in the State Championships, continuing through Oct. 22.

Girls Tennis: Lafayette tennis player, Kate Ferguson, competed in the Individual Sectionals on Oct.14 and will advance to the State Tournament this upcoming week.

Girls Volleyball: On Oct. 14, girls volleyball beat Parkway West in two games. On Oct. 19, the team competed in the Ozark tournament and placed in 2nd. On Oct. 22, the Lady Lancers will play at Nerinx, and on Oct. 24, they will play in their final game of the year at Lafayette against Francis Howell. 

Softball: Varsity softball lost to Northwest on Oct. 14 4-3, and also lost to Parkway West in the first round of Districts by the same score. Their final record of the season was 11-9-1, and senior Hannah Long led the team this season with 31 hits and a .425 batting average.
