Susanne Jessen, the head custodian at Lafayette, received the ROSE Awards for her service to school during the last year’s Academic Pep Assembly. She was nominated by Principal Karen Calcaterra.

The Rockwood School District started accepting nominations for the 2019 ROSE Award (Rockwood Outstanding Service in Education).

The purpose of the award is to celebrate individuals’ contributions to the school district regarding the areas of character, performance, leadership and service.

Any student, staff member, parent, community member or business person can nominate an individual for the ROSE Award, however the nominee must provide volunteer service for the district or work in a Rockwood building. Students and past ROSE Award recipients are not eligible for nomination.

To recommend an individual for the award, a nominator must submit the online nomination form on Rockwood School District’s website by Jan. 28, 2019. The form asks basic information of both the nominee and the nominator, the application requires 4 short essays that recount specific events in which the nominee’s character, performance, leadership and service were highlighted.

Lafayette’s head custodian Susanne Jessen was a recipient for the 2018 ROSE Awards. She was nominated by Principal Karen Calcaterra for her continual service and dedication to the school.

“[Receiving the ROSE Award] was very exciting. It’s not often that people get something like that, so I was very proud of it,” Jessen said.

After Jan. 28, the ROSE Awards committee will review all submissions and announce the final 15 winners around early March.
