The Video Game Club has started up again this year with brand new games and goals.

The club will focus this year upon playing different types of games.

“Last year, we mainly played Nintendo games, like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart; however, this year we want to focus on PlayStation 2 games so that it’s not specifically cartoon-like. We want to broaden our horizons this year,”  Paul Briginets said.

This year, as well, the leaders of the club want to try and join the High School Esports League. To join the league, a high school must first join the league and hold tryouts for members to join. Once members join, they would be able to compete in a tournament. The first place prize is $10,000 in scholarship money. Team members can play outside of school and meet up to have practice rounds together.

“I think it’s a really cool way to get people who aren’t into sports get involved in a way,” Briginets said.

Within the first meetings of the club, the Video Game Club has doubled in size.

“It is a fun way to get everybody involved and have a good time,”  McKinnely Hall said.

The Video Game Club meets Wednesdays after school in Room 136.
