“Out of this World” Homecoming kicks off first weekend of fall

This year Student Council (STUCO) has a week full of events in preparation for the “Out of this World” Homecoming. The week kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 24 with class competitions, the Bubble Bus, music and a movie on the turf.

Class competitions will start at 5 p.m. and food trucks and the Bubble Bus will be available from 5:50 p.m. to 7 p.m. The movie Space Jam will be shown on the turf at 7 p.m. Clubs and teams will have booths open during the kickoff for games. The event is welcome to everyone at Lafayette and in the community.

Monday, Sept. 24, starts the first dress up day of the week with the theme of aliens vs. cowboys. Junior girl’s powder Powder Puff shirts are available for pick up during all three lunch shifts on Monday

Tuesday, Sept. 25 brings more activities. The dress-up day theme is “We Come in Peace,” (Hippie Day). Tuesday also marks the first day of class competitions during lunch. Hall decorations will also take place after school between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Class competitions during lunch will continue on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The dress-up day theme is Galaxy. Also starting on Wednesday, tickets for the Homecoming dance can be purchased during lunch. Tickets are $15 for a single ticket and $30 for a couple ticket. These tickets will be sold Wednesday and Thursday during all three lunch shifts. They can also be purchased online, here. Tickets will not be sold at the dance.

Thursday, Sept. 27 is the final day of class competitions at lunch. The dress-up day theme is Jersey and Jammies. Thursday is the final day to buy Homecoming tickets at lunch. Powder Puff will begin on the turf at 7 p.m., entry tickets are $5.

Friday, Sept. 28 marks the last day for a dress-up theme, with Eclipse Day (blackout). During lunch, Jazz Band along with Vox Solus will perform. The Homecoming Pep Assembly will begin at 2:22 p.m. After school at 5 p.m., the Homecoming Parade will be held followed by the varsity football game at 7:30 p.m.

Finally, the week of festivities will end on Saturday, Sept. 29 with the Homecoming dance. The dance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m. Students need to bring their ticket and their student ID for admission.
