A late offensive surge lifted the Lancers over the Wildcats in a tight baseball outing on April 20. This battle of 109 held up to every expectation in a huge rivalry game. Both teams came out fired up and ready to go until Tommy Williams of the Lancers decided it was time to grab the momentum. The bases were loaded with one out late in the game when Williams blasted the ball into deep left center field putting it over the fence at about 390 feet. As the game went on the Wildcats rallied back in the bottom of the seventh where they tied the game before closer Blake Larson came in to retire the last batter.

Alex Adams, in his first game back, had a great game and also drove in the go-ahead run in extras before the Lancers drove in three others to win the game 11-7. The Lancers are off to a blazing hot start with a record of 8-2 and the no. 1 seed in a tough baseball Conference. They are also rank no. 10 in the large school rankings according to STLhighschoolsports.com rankings.

The bats for the Lancers are rocking for everyone as the team has crazy batting statistics. Most impressive numbers on the team are Andre Roberts hitting .400, Sam McClure hitting .485 with six doubles, Jackson Bartholomew hitting .500 with six doubles and 14 RBI’s, Williams hitting .321 with 10 RBI’s and two home runs, and team leader in batting average, OB%, RBI’s and home runs, Wade Stauss, with impressive numbers of .559, .651, 21, and six. The team is looking unstoppable at the plate.

The team will be on the field April 25 at Oakville High School at 4:15 p.m. in hopes of padding onto the two-game winning streak and defending the no. 1 seed in the Conference.
