Update: Operation B.A.L.D raises over $5,000
February 25, 2016
Operation B.A.L.D which was initiated to honor language arts teacher Jennifer Ingram, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, raised $5,668.81 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Emmanuelle Tamaroff, French teacher, promoted the charity by promising her students that they could shave her head if they raised $1,000. Her class ended up raising $900, and Tamaroff said that she couldn’t be more proud.
“I felt great. It was great. I felt like I could do something to support Mrs. Ingram and make her feel like I care,” Tamaroff said.
Even though Tamaroff’s class didn’t reach the full $1,000, she still let them shave her head in the Commons during lunch.
“It’s liberating. I will keep my hair short,” Tamaroff said.
Eight other teachers also shaved their heads or got short haircuts.
